The Putting Stroke

Hey Rukket Nation! Henry Paul here from the Milo Lines Academy, joined by Dana Finklestein of the LPJ Tour. We're excited to dive into another valuable putting tip today – the path of your putter stroke.

Understanding your putter type is essential, and we recommend getting professionally fit for one. Just as you do for the rest of your bag, your putter should be a perfect match for your style. Now, let's talk about the stroke path. Dana, is a completely straight-back, straight-through stroke necessary? Not really. Most putters work best with a slight arc, mirroring the club's inherent plane.

Imagine an axis running through your stroke plane. To illustrate, use an alignment stick as a guide, ensuring your putter glides naturally along the plane, moving inside without undue force. This promotes stability in the putter face and lessens unwanted rotation.

Instead of delving into specifics, we encourage you to feel the stroke by sliding your putter shaft along an alignment aid. This practice instills a sense of how your putter should move in space. Elevate your putting game with this valuable insight, and watch those putts roll in with newfound precision.
